PRESS RELEASE – March 28, 2024 – The ReGen Accelerator, a New Haven-based climate technology business incubator, has announced the launch of its first accelerator program supporting 10 startups.
The accelerator is a partnership of ClimateHaven of New Haven and Kaplak Ventures, an investment and advisory firm based in Copenhagen and New York City.
“This groundbreaking initiative marks a pivotal moment in the fight against the climate crisis, showcasing the potential of technology-driven solutions to create a sustainable future,” the companies said in a news release.
The ReGen program will take place at ClimateHaven at 770 Chapel St., near the Yale University campus. The inaugural set of 10 companies “is a diverse group of promising startups focused on addressing various environmental challenges through innovative technology,” the companies said.
From renewable energy solutions and carbon capture technologies to sustainable agriculture and waste reduction systems, each participating company represents a unique approach to mitigating the impacts of climate change, they said.
The ReGen Accelerator participants include:
Global Biochar, an environmental sciences company working to address food security.
- Tolam Earth, a digital marketplace for carbon offsets to help organisations reach sustainability goals.
- TeamStack.ai, which uses AI to try to predict and improve team performances.
- Aich2, which is engineering a novel hydrogen ecosystem, built around Solid Hydrogen carriers, that is economically sustainable at scale.
- Tesleon, which is incubated out of Midnight Oil Collective and is the creator of “Captain Moriah’s Map Of The World,” an animated series and transmedia franchise designed to inspire children to pursue climate activism.
As part of the ReGen Accelerator, these companies will undergo an intensive two-month training designed to accelerate their growth and impact.
“At Kaplak Ventures, we believe the greatest commercial opportunity of our time is the decarbonization of businesses at industrial scale,” said Jesper Lok, Kaplak Ventures chairman. “Through our ReGen Accelerator program, we are committed to empowering startups to scale their impact and drive meaningful change in the fight against the climate crisis.”
In addition to strategy training, the program includes mentorship from industry experts, access to a network of investors and strategic partners, and tailored resources to help the companies scale their solutions.
The first ReGen program will culminate on May 28 with the ReGen Showcase, a project demonstration day and networking event held at ClimateHaven during which the startups will publicly pitch their technologies and share what they have learned. The event will be held on the eve of the Yale Innovation Summit, the largest annual innovation gathering in New Haven.
The ReGen Accelerator was first announced in September 2023. ClimateHaven and Kaplak have said they intend to launch a second program supporting another 10 companies that will be held from September through November this year.
