The ground-breaking solutions and cutting-edge low carbon technologies that are helping to fight the climate crisis were showcased at the inaugural Innovation Zero Awards, the winners of which were announced on 30 April 2024 at London’s Olympia.   

The winners of the inaugural Innovation Zero Awards were announced on 30 April 2024 at an evening event held during the UK’s largest climate congress at London’s Olympia. The awards, which are officially supported by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, highlighted some of the ground-breaking solutions and cutting-edge low carbon technologies that are helping to fight the climate crisis by reducing or eliminating the carbon footprint of clients’ operations.

Delivering an opening address at the awards event, Amanda Solloway MP, parliamentary under-secretary of state for affordability and skills, praised the innovations being showcased in all the award entries and said that she was in awe of the ingenuity and invention shown by all those who had taken part.

Award winners spanned a range of exciting and innovative solutions including a hydrogen-powered generator, an initiative to upgrade waste and biogas to hydrogen, ammonia and synthetic fuels, an electric, battery and solar-powered transportation fridge, an electric powertrain system for light aircraft, integrated software programmes, a multi-partner carbon capture solution. Other solutions included an initiative to upgrade waste and biogas to hydrogen, ammonia and synthetic fuels, an enterprise resource planning system to support the rural economy and farmer welfare, innovative project financing for insetting and decarbonisation, the next generation in solar thermal technology and a sustainable construction materials business, producing carbon negative cement and concrete.
