PRESS RELEASE — -BlocPower, a national climate tech company focused on totally decarbonizing American cities, announced the launch of its “Race to Decarbonize”. With buildings contributing to 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions and transportation contributing 14%, this race brings together sustainability leaders to deploy clean technologies that will decarbonize buildings and transportation systems to lead the global race to net zero. BlocPower’s new AI model provides free and customized plans for each of the 125 million existing buildings in America to decarbonize.
The Race to Decarbonize includes knowledge-sharing across data, strategies, inputs, and results at a national scale. BlocPower will help cities execute decarbonization by encouraging widespread installation of electric systems to replace fossil fuel equipment with EV charging, heat pumps, electric stoves, electric hot water heating systems, solar, batteries, and other technologies. Through these upgrades, cities, building owners and residents will take their buildings and transportation systems to net zero.
City leaders will join regular virtual convenings to share resources, best practices, and provide updates on which city is winning the race to net zero. Sustainability champions from each city will receive guidance, advice, support, and BlocPower’s AI tools to implement decarbonization at city-scale. The first convening will take place on August 13 and focus on bringing equitable EV charging to cities.
