Breakthrough in High-Pressure Hydrogen Production
Clyde Hydrogen Systems, a spin-out from the University of Glasgow, has achieved a significant technical milestone in hydrogen production. Its proprietary decoupled electrolysis process has successfully generated hydrogen at pressures exceeding 100 bar, addressing the inefficiency of conventional systems. This innovation promises a scalable, efficient, and cost-effective solution for integrating intermittent renewable energy into hydrogen production, accelerating the global shift to net-zero emissions.
Plans for Commercialization and Pilot Deployment
The startup is on track to deliver a fully integrated pilot system by late 2025, with a market-ready product expected by 2027. Leveraging its breakthrough technology, Clyde Hydrogen aims to scale its operations and position itself as a leader in renewable hydrogen. The company’s focus on improving safety, efficiency, and scalability aligns with growing global demand for clean energy solutions.
£5M Seed Funding Round to Drive Growth
To support its commercialization journey, Clyde Hydrogen has launched a £5 million seed funding round. Backed by pre-seed funding and government grants, the funds will enable the company to refine its production process, expand its team, and develop a production-ready system by 2026. CEO James Peck emphasized the importance of this funding in scaling their innovation to meet the UK’s renewable energy goals. Read More
