Crusoe Energy Systems has secured $600M in Series D funding, propelling its valuation to $2.8B. The round, led by Founders Fund and supported by Nvidia, Fidelity, Mubadala, and others, positions Crusoe to scale its clean energy-powered data centres. Originally focused on mitigating methane emissions through natural gas flaring solutions, Crusoe now aims to meet the surging energy demand for generative AI and machine learning while aligning with sustainability goals.
AI-Powered Data Centres: A Clean Energy Breakthrough
Crusoe’s clean energy data centres harness stranded and waste energy to power energy-intensive AI workloads. Facilities like the new 998,000-square-foot Abilene centre, capable of housing 100,000 GPUs and delivering over 1.2 gigawatts of power, highlight this shift. By reducing flaring and emissions, Crusoe offers a scalable solution to the environmental challenges posed by AI, ensuring cost-effective computing aligned with global climate goals.
