Oslo-based Installer has raised €3.8 million in seed funding to streamline the installation of renewable technologies, aiming to cut costs and speed up deployment. The startup, which connects skilled installers with companies, says its platform helps firms scale faster and more efficiently.

Brighteye Ventures led the funding round, joined by PT1, Futurum, and Sondo. Installer CEO Gunnar W. Sem said the company is focused on eliminating obstacles that slow the rollout of renewable technology, EU Startups is reporting.

“Our mission is to speed up the deployment of renewable technologies by eliminating hurdles,” Sem said, as reported by EU Startups. “We provide companies with instant access to skilled installers, allowing them to scale fast and cost-efficiently.”

Founded in 2022 by Kristoffer Gjerde, Thomas Kristiansen, and Sem, Installer helps deploy and maintain renewable energy assets, including electric vehicle chargers, solar panels, and heat pumps. The company claims its technology halves operating costs for clients while expanding job opportunities for installers.

Rather than designing new hardware, Installer focuses on making installation more efficient, EU Startups reports. The company likens its approach to “building Shopify for the renewable asset supply chain.” More than 70% of customers see installation as a key part of their experience, Installer says, highlighting an often-overlooked bottleneck in the industry.

Installer’s platform uses artificial intelligence to match jobs with installer companies, aiming to optimize scheduling and improve training. The system integrates job dispatching, custom workflows, and a digital interface for customers, reducing the workload for installers and ensuring they are equipped to handle renewable energy systems.

After operating in stealth mode, the startup has already secured partnerships in 21 markets, according to the startup magazne. Partners include Easee, a supplier of EV charging solutions; Sungrow, a manufacturer of solar and battery systems; Coop, Norway’s largest heat pump provider; and Tibber, a European energy provider specializing in renewable hardware.

“Our goal is to become the leading platform for installer collaboration,” Sem said. “By partnering with other amazing companies that produce and sell innovative products, we can collectively push these technologies to reach consumers more efficiently.”

The funding has helped Installer build a 17-member team, with employees coming from companies such as Kahoot!, Oda, McKinsey, Tesla, and Easee. The company plans to expand its footprint across key European markets, including Scandinavia, the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, and France.

Beyond Europe, Installer is preparing for a push into the U.S. within the next 12 to 18 months. Sem pointed to shifting energy policies as a major factor in the company’s expansion strategy.

“The U.S. is on the cusp of a renewable surge, and we’re excited to contribute to that momentum, especially as policy changes could further accelerate adoption,” he said.
